Here are Xorg.0.log and dmesg after booting into karmic alpha6 off the livecd (on a USB stick) and immediately disabling compiz. The system hard locks within a minute if compiz is left enabled. After disabling it, if I then go to re-enable it, the system hard locks almost immediately.
