Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

After the latest update, Compiz fails to start. When I try to start Compiz manually, I get the following error:

ben@ben-laptop:~$ compiz.real --replace
compiz.real (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz.real (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz.real (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

The following is the details of my graphics hardware from lspci:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)

The version of compiz which has caused this error is 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8

I also get:

compiz.real (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz.real (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz.real (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

And my graphics hardware:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

I just noticed it after the latest update, and I'm on the most updated Ubuntu JJ.

I think it is a "conflict situation", because I just run
`gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false`
and `compiz --replace` worked!

Note: compiz has been intentionally disabled on a temporary basis for all intel 965 users on jaunty because of a nasty crash bug.
