This sounds similar to an issue that I commonly have, only it's not reliably producible and affects the entire desktop. In my instance, compiz will stop updating any window on the screen, until I move the cube or move the window. This usually starts working after a force kill of compiz and a restart of compiz.

This seems to be related to compiz's rendering system, where it gets caught in a loop/segfault somewhere, although I haven't done any debugging to narrow down the problem.

Ubuntu: 9.04
Compiz: 0.8.2

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
