Bug Description
Binary package hint: compiz
1) Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
2) compiz 1:0.7.4-0ubuntu7
writer openoffice.org-core 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2
3) With compiz enabled, when trying to create a new text document in Writer while the F11 stylist window is floating (not anchored), the new text document window should open with the stylist without a hitch.
4) What we can observe instead, is that with compiz effects enabled and when trying to create a new text document in Writer while F11 stylist window is floating, the newly created text document window opens but it flickers back and forth with the previous writer window. The same buggy behavior was observed on an other computer running the same version of Hardy Heron.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1) Enable compiz desktop effects.
2) Open Writer and press F11 to open stylist window. (Stylist must be in floating mode. Behavior will not occur if stylist (F11 shortcut) is anchored to main window)
3) In Writer, create a new document with shortcut CTRL-N or with menu or icon.
4) Flickering between newly created document window and previous one will occur.
I say cheers to all the developpers working to create this great software! Thanks a bunch.

Confirmed, the steps reported do lead to rapid focus stealing between the two windows.
