Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

In Intrepid, when I move the mouse around an image window in gimp, bits of the cursor pixmap are randomly deposited in the image display. They aren't saved in the image - it's only a window refresh problem. See attached sample, which I made by:

1. Creating a new file in gimp.
2. Moving the cursor around in its window while the cursor was a circle.
3. Using alt-print screen to save the window image.

Note that when I save the file and re-open it, it doesn't have the corruption saved in it.

It doesn't happen with compiz turned off.

This might be related to bug #269904 (screen refresh problems with nvidia on intrepid) but I'm not noticing any other refresh problems.

System information:

intrepid kernel 2.6.27-3 amd64
compiz 1:0.7.7+git20080807-0ubuntu10
gimp 2.4.7-1ubuntu1
nvidia-glx-177 177.70-0ubuntu2

It doesn't happen with the nvidia 173 driver, so it probably is the nvidia 177 driver rather than compiz.
