Bug Description

This is an Alpha 5 version of Intrepid Ibex bug. It does not occur in Hardy Heron.

When Compiz-Fusion is enabled (either "Normal" or "Extra") in System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects, the workspace switcher becomes ineffectual. The user can no longer change the number of workspaces. Workspace Switcher can adjust the number of workspaces when Metacity is used (i.e. "None" for Visual Effects). This is an important bug because the user cannot create a desktop cube or wall because he/she is locked into a 2 by 1 grid. I have attached several screenshots of the Workspace Switcher when Compiz is enabled and disabled.

I am experiencing the same problem. (Intrepid dev with partial upgrade on 09/09/2008)

I agree that this is important simply because everyone that sees Ubuntu with the cool effects wants to know how they can get it.

If i can't show off all the cool stuff...its harder to convert users.
