compiz.real crashed with SIGSEGV in eventLoop()

Binary package hint: compiz

after installing updates to the Ubuntu 8.04, my compiz-config has stopped behaving properly.
display is not identified- but appears as :cloned device", my 3d windows, and cube rotation etc has stopped although I have 4 x desktops.
