Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I'm using Hardy with all the latest updates. When I run a program that needs administrative privileges or I use gksu, after I type my password, the screen still stays dark. I'm guessing this is a bug with compiz, because it works fine with compiz disabled. Also, this worked fine in Gusty. Also, only some of the screen stays grayed, and moving a window or something over it makes it normal, but this should definitely be fixed.

I am having the same problem. It seems that it's not repainting the screen. Using Hardy with latest updates.

I'm getting the same problem under Gutsy.
Sometimes I get a white screen sometimes only its shadow.

I've attached a screenshot but I'm not sure how helpful that will be as taking screenshots appears to be broken as well.
You can see the problem in the part of the rectangle at 735,345 in the image.

Switching visual effects to none and back removes the box.

Forgot to mention that moving a window over it does not make it normal. It stays till compiz is disabled.

I'm getting more or less the same: after using gksu the background and panels remain darkened, but moving windows over dark parts get them back to normal. Also, any compiz-related action -launching expo, switcher, scale...- gets the whole screen back to normal.

Yeah, if you have desktop cube on, the quickest way is to just middle
click the desktop and everything's back to normal :-)
