Bug Description

Very difficult filing this report, as system almost unusable since latest CompizConfigSysMgr update.

Monitoring with TOP, Compiz hogs resources, at 100% or even 106%, sometimes relinquishing resources after 2 or 3 minutes lag.

If Kill command for Compiz PID, then sometimes Compiz will recover, more likely, Compiz freezes whole system, requiring reboot e.g. from terminal.

Lag in compiz confirmed using different software: LibreOffice 5, LibreOffice 6, Firefox

Many complains about CompizConfig update on AskUbuntu:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1010634/ubuntu-16-04-compiz-uses-way-too-much-cpu

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1010038/unity-top-bar-and-launcher-disappeared-feb-24-2018

Tried switch to LOWGFX mode, but problem with Compiz persists. Problem is worse for me since latest Compiz update, but as filed previously, I was getting similar behavior from Ubuntu LibreOffice 5, with previous version Compiz.
