gtk-window-decorator using 6.3gb resident memory

I recently did a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04, then installed mate. With only gnome terminal running, gtk-window-decorator is using 6.3 gigabytes of resident memory.

I tried the steps for reproducing bug #1050610 - not the same bug. Wns does go back down.
