Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Compaq Presario 2136EA Laptop.

Using Fn+PgUp/PgDn I can control the volume level of my laptop speaker, and an animation come up on the screen showing a sliding bar. (Using Compiz)

Everything worked fine in Feisty, but with Gutsy RC updated, animation come up but sliding bar doesn't work or work very bad. I can't know which is the Volume level.

Due to this kind of shortcut keys are present in all laptop (and also a lot of keyboard have a specific button to control Volume) and are usually used a lot in my opinion, I think it's a really bad thing in terms of usability.

Due to duplicate bug I added gnome-applets as possible package bugged.
Feel free to put one of them (compiz and gnome-applets) invalid if you find out it is not relatated to this bug.

Changed in compiz:
status: New → Confirmed
Changed in gnome-applets:
status: New → Confirmed

I have the same problem, both in GNOME and KDE, regardless of whether Compiz is enabled or not.
I have a desktop PC with a Cherry CyMotion Master XPress keyboard which has volume control keys; they used to work flawlessly with Edgy and Feisty, but no longer with Gutsy.
