Bug Description

Installed 15.04 32 bit flavor desktop on Thinkpad W540 and T420

after resume from suspend
>_ dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/speed_test bs=10M count=10
10+0 records in
10+0 records out
104857600 bytes (105 MB) copied, 37.8204 s, 2.8 MB/s

to resume to disk speed back
>_ sync; echo 3 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

>_ dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/speed_test bs=10M count=10
10+0 records in
10+0 records out
104857600 bytes (105 MB) copied, 0.263862 s, 397 MB/s

It's not clear why you might think the desktop graphics compositing manager might affect the kernel's disk caching policies.
