There are various problems with the GUI at the windows level. Problems 1. windows come up blank - sometimes even menus come up blank, happens in 1 out of 20 window approximately. 2. Windows appear but typing does not work. Sometimes if you click on something in the window the queued typing will occur. 3. Windows appear but some mouse clicks don't work, so do. 4. Thanks for reporting these problems. It appears you are running an older version of Compiz on your computer. I recommend you update your 14.04 LTS to pick up all the bug fixes that have been released.

Using the Dash you can start the Software Updater application. Click on Settings... > Updates and make sure the "Recommended updates (trusty-updates)" is checked. Follow the dialogs and choose the options to update your system.

The current version of Compiz in trusty-updates is 1:0.9.11.3+14.04.20150122-0ubuntu1 and we believe it may already contain fixes for the problems you have described. Please update you version to the current supported version and retry if you could and report the results back here so we can see if there is further action required.
