Bug Description

Many times everyday, compiz crashes and some applications become fullscreen (e.g.: leafpad, vmplayer, thunderbird especially). I cannot close those applications so I change desktop and kill the process of each. After, I go in .config and change config for thuderbird and remove for leafpad, because else, application start fullscreen the next time?

For now, I am running the default compiz settings (rm -rf ~/.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/*) and everything is quite stable.
I will wait few days and add settings one by one just as a gap analysis. I may be able to find out what cause the bug. I'll update while I have new info.

I am keeping adjusting my compiz settings, everything is working fine. Takes only around 80 megs of memory. Maybe it was a conflicting key, not sure. You guys may see something in the submitted debug files. I enable back the compiz crash to get any output if the case happen again. Thank you!

After running the system with mostly: OpenGL (Fast), Desktop Cube, Rotate Cube, Cube Reflection and Deformation, Woobly Windows and most of the other standard options, I got another crash. This time, the Window refreshed and I the decoration remain correct. Firefox became running fullscreen. It crash when pressing Leafpad from the Unity bar, nothing special.

Video card: i915

Here is the debugging information: http://pastebin.com/L1bEmNAK

Have a good one!

And this one again:
http://pastebin.com/Tw5vhVRK

I will run rm -rf ~/.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/*
logout, login, adjust my icon size of the Unity bar and run the default compiz for few days.
After, if stable for few days, I will enable only OpenGL (fast).
If stable, one by one, I will add other elements.
This way, we may find out the one actually causing this.
Thanks!

I got few crash with that machine running an intel i915 with known and confirmed OpenGL bugs.

Here an output of yeseterday:

My guess now, and despite we cannot assume anything, bugs in the prom or the logical calculation may be the issue.
For now, as it recovers perfectly, I will run that machine this way until I replace it by a card supporting OpenGL much better.

*Any recommendations on a good and stable video card supporting OpenGL properly?

See the gap analysis of the config, from unstable to stable:

I will keep you informed about the stability, thank you!

I guess the bug persist despite three days without.

Maybe someone could suggest me some debug symbols.

Thanks!

Hello again,

I got few compiz crash without the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, so it did not correct the situation.

As far as I can remember, it crashed while starting Firefox few times.

Have nice day!
