Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I've got a Dimension 9150 here that I decided to test the Tribe4 Desktop CD on today. The machine has feisty installed on it and works rather well. The machine has a Radeon X300SE (RV370) video card in it.

I was happily surprised to see that the desktop effects are now working with the open source drivers. When the machine booted, it set the display in 1280x1024 and the effects were fine.

The problem is that I have a 20" widescreen monitor (Dell 2005fpw) which has a native resolution of 1680x1050. I tweaked the xorg.conf file by removing the resolution line, logged out to restart X, and logged back in at 1680x1050.

Unfortunately, large sized windows are not displaying correctly. The desktop pane is just a big white box in a big black box. If I resize an application window, it stops displaying at a certain size.
