Bug Description

Compiz causes noticeable vertical tearing (NOT horizontal tearing) inside windows. It appears that there's a column ~450 pixels wide near the left side of the screen that is redrawn at a slightly different time. I first noticed this when scrolling and switching tabs in Chrome or Firefox. It's most visible when rapidly switching between tabs with different background colours.

Enabling the "force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint" workaround in CCSM fixes the issue completely.

This also happens for me on i965, r600 and radeonsi, especially when running a background window with moving pixels (something like GNOME System Monitor on the Graphs tab for instance). Enabling force_swap_buffers indeed seems to make the problem go away.

As part of the big bug review for 16.04 LTS I have tested this on 15.10 and the bug is still there.
