black screen or frozen screen after a change in multihead configuration

Bug Description

When changing the multihead configuration, typically when plugging in or unplugging an external monitor with a non-mirrored configuration, the screen freezes and I have to kill compiz to get the screen to display properly again. Compiz itself is not frozen, because compiz hotkeys seem to work even while the screen is frozen.

Ok, so this turns out to be triggered by enabling texture compression in CCSM. When I turn that on I can reproduce horrible, horrible failure on display size change (With a HSW Iris Pro 5200).
