Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

As of recent gutsy upgrades, when compiz terminates, the entire desktop freezes. This happens on logout, and also after typing metacity --replace (in which case the desktop freezes so quickly that the next shell prompt does not even appear). Ctrl+Alt+F1 does nothing, although the cursor still moves with the mouse.

I have the same problem.

When logout, the desktop is empty but the wallpaper stays, the mouse is still active but the keyboard
doesn't respond (CTRL-ALT-Fx)

But the system il still "alive", and pressing the power button makes the PC shutdown.

I'm using a Nvidia Geforce 7600GT with 100.14.11 driver
