Bug Description

Clicking on any menu entry in Synaptic except "File", produces graphic errors in the menu bar, it looks like a strange shadow effect. I also noticed this behavior in "Nixnote" which shows exactly the same error. Both have no global menu.

Could you please attach a screenshot?
By default it's not possible to use the screenshot hotkey while a menu is open, but you can use the following method:
1. open a terminal
2. open synaptic
3. run 'gnome-screenshot -d 5' from the terminal, and you have 5 seconds to go to synaptic and open the menu
4. save the screenshot and crop as required
Thank you in advance!

Thanks, that looks like a rendering issue, and as you have mentioned it appearing with more applications, I will reassign to compiz (something else might be the culprit, but it's not synaptic, I think), hopefully someone more experienced with rendering issues will know what's causing this, and if it's not compiz, will reassign it to the correct package.

affects: synaptic (Ubuntu) → compiz (Ubuntu)
