Launcher icons bring application windows in current workspace

Bug Description

I use the default 2x2 workspaces, having setup through CCSM (Place Windows / Fixed Window Placement / Windows with fixed viewport) some application windows to always open in specific workspaces. The application windows indeed open in the respective workspaces with no problem.

After some software update (I can't pinpoint the exact one) I have noticed that some times (not always) clicking on the icon in the launcher of an application with a window in another workspace (not the one I'm currently viewing) brings that window in my current workspace, instead of switching me to the workspace the window is in. Furthermore, the window is displayed in a seemingly arbitrary position, with some parts of it outside the screen.

This problem is perhaps not critical, but annoying at least, as my intended action is to quickly check a window in another workspace then return to my current one, without "polluting" it with unrelated windows. It is a shame this doesn't work correctly, as the launcher makes such a workflow so easy, needing just two clicks on adjacent icons.

I have exactly the same problem after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04 this morning.

However sometimes the application isn't moved to the current workspace but to a different one (not where it previously was). The new position often has the apps left edge under the launcher which is awkward if you don't use auto hide.

Can someone PLEASE have a look at this?? It is starting to get on my nerves!!

ADDITIONAL INFO: I use two different screen setups. My primary setup is with the laptop on a dock and a separate external monitor. No dual-head, just the external monitor. My secondary setup is with the laptop alone. This issue seems to happen MUCH more often with my secondary setup (laptop alone), than with my primary!

I use two different XOrg configuration files for my setups, which I have attached.

PLEASE have a look at this, it's driving me insane to have to rearrange my windows!!

Yes. This happens on my system. Even on the 12.10-64bit install today. Very frustrating.
It only occurs on windows that are not full screened.

This seems to only occur when one (or both) windows are touching both the top and bottom screen edges. When the same windows are in the middle of the screen resized so that they don't touch any of the screen edges I can jump back and forth between them with no problem.
