Bug Description

I set the screen auto suspend after the computer is idle of 5min in system settings.
Then after the screen went dark(not just "black screen", the display card calls the screen to suspend) , I here a fast fan running sound, and I unlock the screen and open the task manager and noticed compiz is using about 80%of my cpu resource(and its the only process which have a occupation above 10%, and at that time , Im just downloading some files ), and after a while, it fall down to about 8%, and my fan speed fall down too.

I have the same issue as well with ATI Mobile HD 5000 Series on HP Probook 4321s laptop.

- Xorg and compiz occupy enormous CPU resources while ubuntu is on screen-auto-suspend or battery-mode.
- Reloading Compiz or Unity makes the system responsive again.
- In the case on battery-mode, plugging AC power is not a immediately solution.
My laptop needs 2~5 minutes to be normalized after plugging AC power.
- But I can't find critical error message in /var/log/xorg.0.log
- I can reproduce this every time.

If you need additional logs etc., mail me <email address hidden>

HP Probook 4321s
CPU : Intel Core i3 M380 @2.53Ghz
VGA : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (proprietary AMD/ATI FGLRX driver)
OS : Ubuntu 12.04 Precise amdx64

Additionally, this can be reproduced with open-source graphic driver(xorg-radeon), also.

But note that the radeon driver has an equally nasty bug --> bug 914773.
