Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main

Steps to reproduce:

Activate Compiz
In ccsm go to Place Windows, make a rule for ie Evolution to start on a specific viewport
Start Evolution (or whatever you've chosen) in maximied mode (maximize it before you close, and the open again)
In ccsm activate Window Previews (I thinks it's called in english)
Now I cannot do anyting in Evolution, not even scroll. I can click it and get focus, and close it, but not work with it.
Click on Evolution twice on the taskbar, so it will minimize and then open again
Now it works fine.

The bug remains after todays update of compiz-fusion-plugins-main. Perhaps I was wrong in assuming that it is compiz-fusion-plugins-main, now I see there is also an compiz-plugins and compiz-fusion-plugin-extra. I do not know what package it is, but it has to do with "Place Windows" and "Preview Windows" in CCSM

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better, but unfortunately I've been unable to reproduce your issue on Ubuntu 8.10. Can you reproduce this issue with an Ubuntu LIVE CD and report back if the problem still exists on Ubuntu 8.10 LIVE CD?

I experience this behavior both on a computer with Intel graphics and one with Nvidia (177 driver updated today actually). Also with LiveCD on my computer with Intel graphics I got the same behavior.

In case my steps to reproduce where unclear, I'll try to explain them again (somewhat different).

* In ccsm go to "Place Windows" → "Fixed Window Placement"
in "Windows with fixed VIEWPORTS placement" add "class=Firefox" and set a viewport

* Open firefox, and maximise it.

* In ccsm activate "Window Preview" (I use swedish and I'm guessing what this is called in english)
Now, in the bottom panel where we see what apps is open, when hovering the mouse pointer over it you should see a preview of that window. I've set the windowlist to show apps on all viewports, and "Window Preview" to show previews for apps on all viewports as well, however on the LiveCD I did not make these adjustements.

* Go to Firefox, now I can't do anything in that window.

* Click on Firefox in the bottom panel, so Firefox will minimize, then click it again so it comes back up

* Now I can use Firefox

Please try these steps, if you do not get the same behaviour I can make a screencast and add as an attachement, and you can see what I behavior I get.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, forgot about this report. I'm now using Karmic and do not experience this anymore, but it was probably fixed with Jaunty as well. But thanks for asking :-)
