I would really like to see this package updated to 1.1.0 as well. I tried to build my own executable from source, but couldn't get past the first two steps from the official site...

Oracle will no longer provide free public updates for commercial users of Java 8 after January 2019 (i.e. this month). As such, Java users will need to upgrade their JDK very soon, so I think this bug is more urgent now.

I've published PPA packages of 1.1.0 at https://launchpad.net/~epkugelmass/+archive/ubuntu/jsvc for trusty and xenial. Will do bionic soon, as well. Perhaps a good starting point for the package maintainers.

https://launchpad.net/~jessechavez/+archive/ubuntu/jsvc

it works with Java 11 and has packages for 14.04, 16.04, 18.04, and 20.04

Hope we can get an updated version soon.

Possible workaround for this bug is to create this link:
 ln -rsf /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/lib/ /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/lib/amd64
