Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I can confirm that command-not-found still suggests to install xbattle, even though the package was removed from the repository a while back. I have submitted a patch which removes xbattle from the suggestion list.

I'm not sure this is the right thing to do. If you look at the pre-build.sh, it explicitly says that it doesn't want the scan.data in bzr.

% wc -l UnifiedDataExtractor/scan.data
0 UnifiedDataExtractor/scan.data

pre-build.sh runs update-from-web.sh which tries to download the latest scan.data from an internal Canonical server, under mvo's account. I do not have access to this internal server, but my suspicion is that since Michael left Canonical, this file is not getting updated. If it were, I wouldn't expect scan.data to even include xbattle in the first place.

I'm going to subscribe/ping mvo and follow up on the bug. Maybe it's better to include the scan.data in bzr after all? (It's only ~1MB.)

Michael, what do you think we should do about this?

I am not sure what happened behind the curtains on this, but on Ubuntu 14.04 I see the following behaviour:

$ xbattle
xbattle: command not found

So this issue has been resolved.
