Bug Description

Tested on Unity, Gnome-Xorg and Gnome-Wayland.
I also tested on several amd64 computers and they all seem perfectly fine. Only occurs on ppc64le for some weird reason.

Edit: Also tested with "--safe-mode" and "-ni", no effect on scrolling speed.

What is the scrolling performance in scite, geany or the stc sample in wxWidgets?
Make a flamegraph using perf? http://www.brendangregg.com/flamegraphs.html
Is the cpu you're testing on comparable to the amd64 ones in (single threaded) performance?
