Bug Description

I upgraded to 18.04 on my laptop and now I can't login using cinnamon (regular nor software mode). I renamed my local .cinnamon dir to .cinnamon.old but that did not help...

The screen goes black for a while and then it goes back to the login screen :(

On dmesg I found the following, that might be related:

I suppose that can be something as recommends missed or something that can cause unexpected issue.
FWIK install with cinnamon-desktop-environment including recommends solves many issue (major of cases about only one or more part)
Another thing that can cause issue spotted by some users seems gnome-user-share.
If you already install cinnamon-desktop-environment including recommends and gnome-user-share is something else that need more info and/or debug

Thanks for the suggestions... I have cinnamon-desktop-environment and all recommends, as well as gnome-user-share and it still can't login using cinnamon :(

Can you please change the importance since that issue makes cinnamon unusable which is the only desktop which can handle full screen WINE applications properly.

I had the exact same problem. Removing gnome-user-share did the trick - I was able to log in to Cinnamon after a reboot.

On 18.10, I appear to have had the same issue, and I can confirm that installing cinnomon-desktop-environment +recommends did help in my case. I do not have gnome-user-share installed.

I upgraded to 18.10 and it seems the issue is now fixed. Cinnamon now works :) at least for me...
