Chromium's LP translations overwritten by imports

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

In Finnish translation, import always overwrites changes made in Launchpad. This has been happening for a while (many weeks) now.

Import basically sets LP changes as suggestions. These changes are mostly corrections to translation bugs which have been marked as new for years on Google's issues tracker.

The following strings are great examples of this problem:

The 3rd has a bit more history but still, nothing wrong. Are you sure those are the IDs that keep being overwritten?
if so, then it's launchpad's fault. I should be able to do the same tests with the export branch..

I've changed all of those strings in Launchpad. Those strings were translated by Chrome's translator but s/he made some oopsies. Therefore I've tried to correct them in Chromium.

Problem here seems to be that importing prioritizes Chrome's translations over LP translations. All the changes I've made are marked as suggestions after import has finished.

Still happens and in other languages, too. Is this a problem with Launchpad?

I'm marking it as Invalid for the Ubuntu Translations project, as Chromium's translations are handled in Launchpad's upstream project, but not in the Ubuntu packages. In Ubuntu we can currently only translate packages from the main repository, and Chromium is in universe.

However, the chromium-browser bug is still valid. I'm also adding a task for Launchpad do keep track of it.

Launchpad bug is a duplicate of bug 818230 (or maybe of bug 869264, depending on your view). Since I can't mark only a single bug task as such, I am marking the Launchpad bug as "Invalid". If you want to make this a bug duplicate of any of the existing bugs, feel free to do so and create new bug tasks on them.

Upstream chromium is not accepting translations coming from Launchpad any longer. Translations are bundled in the chromium-browser-l10n package, they come directly from the upstream sources.
