Confirmed. This happens on a fresh 11.04 install (plus apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, naturally).

Oh. Hm. Interesting. Apparently, it doesn't *close* per se; it just never arrives in the sidebar, as it were. It is still possible to summon the lost window via Alt+Tab. Obviously, this impairs functionality, especially for users totally new to computers (currently typing on my grandmother's very first computer; obviously I threw Windows all to hell).
