Bug Description

1. Description: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release: 22.04

2. chromium-browser:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1:85.0.4183.83-0ubuntu2.22.04.1
  Version table:
     1:85.0.4183.83-0ubuntu2.22.04.1 500

     1:85.0.4183.83-0ubuntu2 500
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu jammy/universe amd64 Packages

$ snap list | grep chromium
chromium 126.0.6478.126 2905 latest/stable canonical**

btw the same version as installed is shown as version of the update, so you have a version problem also.

3. Staring chromium via the via the taskbar open chromium with my own profile (extensions, etc)
4. Staring chromium via the taskbar since the recent update on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS 64-bit show just a the "running-circle" which disappears after a while. No chromium is shown. Starting from the terminal shows:
$ /snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome --temp-profile
/snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found (required by /snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome)
/snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.38' not found (required by /snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome)

Can you please attach the output of "snap changes" and "grep ' install ' /var/log/dpkg.log"?.

Sorry, can you be clearer?

Your items 3 and 4 clash with one another. Are you saying in 3 that it Chromium used to open normally when started with via the taskbar and now it doesn't?

Update of what? Can you be more specific?

> /snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome

This is an unsandboxed and thus unsupported way of launching Chromium, you should use /snap/bin/chromium or 'snap run chromium' (please attach the output in case any of those fail to launch Chromium). If the task bar launchers you set up are using that binary, they are of course also unsupported.

Thanks for the quick response - I'm using the browser headless and I get the GLIBC_2.38 errors when running `/snap/chromium/current/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome` - this previously worked for me on a different server (with chromium 122.0.6261.94 2769).

However, using `snap run chromium` or `/snap/bin/chromium` works fine. Thanks for your guidance.
