Title: package chromium-browser (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: new chromium-browser package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
From the contents of DpkgTerminalLog .txt, it looks like you interrupted the installation.
The chromium-browser package is now a transitional package that installs the chromium snap, which might take some time depending on your internet connection and on the snap store CDN.
Since the snap is downloaded and installed in the package's post-install script, there is no way to accurately report the real progress, which might be why you thought it was stuck and cancelled it?
Please try re-installing, and let us know how it goes:
sudo apt reinstall chromium-browser
