Chromium triggers keychain unlock too late

Bug Description

When you visit a login page for which you have saved the password, the browser does not auto fill the password. You have to enter it again. Once you have entered it, Chromium asks you to save it (even though it has been saved a thousand times before). When you choose to save it, Ubuntu asks you to unlock the keychain. After you unlock it, you don't have to manually enter saved passwords in the current session.

This is extremely stupid and inconvenient - what's the point of saving passwords when you have to always enter it again plus enter the keychain password to log into accounts? Instead of not entering any password - you have to enter two passwords! Other browsers, like Firefox, don't work this way. Please remove the keychain unlock all together or trigger the unlock dialogue prior account password entry or on browser startup.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-life on April 25,2019.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when using currently supported versions of Ubuntu and Chromium? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.
