Bug Description

Hi there

On 14.10 I noticed sometimes that Chromium Browser just didn't start (the gui) anymore. It's still there in the process list.

Now I'm on 15.04 and just noticed the same thing. It doesn't happen often but it happens sometimes.

Currently grepping for chromium browser returns:

hyper 26637 99.7 0.5 869796 94208 ? Rl 08:32 4:47 chromium-browser --disk-cache-dir=/tmp/cache/chromium --disk-cache-size=102400000 --memory-model=low --enable-pinch
hyper 26646 0.0 0.0 6528 780 ? S 08:32 0:00 /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome-sandbox /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser --type=zygote
hyper 26647 0.0 0.3 615068 58480 ? Ss 08:32 0:00 chromium-browser --type=zygote
hyper 26649 0.0 0.0 615068 10200 ? S 08:32 0:00 chromium-browser --type=zygote
hyper 26843 0.0 0.0 11004 2280 pts/7 S+ 08:37 0:00 grep --color=auto chromium

I can kill all the processes and try to start chromium again but no luck. The only way I can actually use CB again is by rebooting.

I have no idea why it doesn't start properly though.

I'd like to know how to collect information when apport isn't even running properly.

Have you reported any of these apport bugs to apport maintainers?

For stale running processes, kill them with "killall chromium-browser".

Please start chromium-browser from a terminal for a while. Look for suspicious messages it emits. Also, use "--verbose" parameter on the end, which should add many details at next update.
