Forgot to mention the webcam worked with Hardy Heron, but on a 32 bit version, I have since changed to Hardy Heron 64bit and upgrade to Intrepid.

Have attached hardware info

Xawtv did not work yesterday.

Have now tried ekiga - which displays nicely.

After that, tried cheese, still no picture - then tried Xawtv which now works fine.

When I upgraded to intrepid, happened the same: cheese doesn't display any output and, if I try to take a picture, it freezes. It worked nice on hardy 8.04

I have almost exactly the same symptoms on my laptop. I have a MacBook Pro 3.1, and the iSight camera worked fine with Hardy 8.04 but not with Intrepid 8.10. Ekiga, Skype, and gstreamer-properties can all see and use the camera fine.

Hi!

This is most probably a dup from bug #290506

Could you confirm to us if changing the resolution within cheese properties menu to 176x144 would give you video?

thanks!

Yes, this might be related. I can also set the resolution to 320x240 and it works fine. If I try to set the resolution to the resolution I used in Hardy 8.04 (720x480) then the application fails. This is similar to bug #290506.

OK, so we've got two separate bugs but maybe related each other.

It seems we've got a bug affecting cheese/gstreamer (bug #290506) and another one affecting uvcvideo (bug #287888).

Those whom can solve the error recompiling the uvcvideo driver as described in #287888 please follow that one, the others that can solve the problem changing resolution would have the #290506

Thanks!

I'm marking this one as dupe of bug #290506

PerJensen: Kill it and start it again. It will work at that resolution then.
