(intrepid) Webcam which worked fine stoped working in skype and strange behaviour

Using a Quickcam communicate Deluxe with Ubuntu 8.10

I am using Intrepid since beta and my webcam was working fine everywhere.
However recently it stopped working in skype. The webcam does seem to turn on as usual but I get a white square instead of the webcam image...

Here is what I get if I launch Skype from the commandline and I try to test it under "Options" > "video devices"

Starting the process...
Skype Xv: Xv ports available: 32
Skype XShm: XShm support enabled
Skype Xv: Using Xv port 280

In chesse I get strange behaviours... It works and the quality is as usual but it takes a good 15s before displaying the webcam video !

In Ekiga I can see the webcam fine whith no delay.

Please tell me if you want me to include other log file

Skype is unsupported, as it is proprietary.

same issue for me, but I don't think it's related to cheese. It should be a driver issue.

I use the integrated webcam of my dell xps m1330.

I have a similar problem. Dell SP2208WFP webcam. Works in Ekiga, doesn't in Cheese. I get a gray screen. The program does seem to recognize the device but I get no image, not even after a couple of minutes.

I have the Integrated Webcam at DellXPS M1330

It worked in Hardy, so it's a regression.

In skype, it does not work.
In cheese, it does not work, stays blank.
In Ekiga, It works.

What Information should I provide?
