There is a problem with Cheese on 22.04 beta (image shows up scrambled even though it works as expected when I visit www.webcamtests.com).
I tried to report the problem using `ubuntu-bug cheese`.
I am asked if the problem is with Cheese, or with the image shown in Cheese. I select the latter option, then after around 20 seconds, the error

Finally, Cheese is launched with a black screen instead of the webcam picture and the text "There was an error playing the video from the webcam".
