Cheese webcam crashes immediately after opening

Running Ubuntu 15.04 on a Thinkpad X230. Cheese crashes immediately after opening.

The webcam of my laptop works as tested with Screencastify (Chrome extension).

Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid) reached end-of-life on February 4, 2016.
