videobalance GStreamer element missing after upgrade to trusty

Bug Description

After upgrading to trusty 14.04, Cheese is giving me this error on the console:

    Can't find vp8enc preset: "Profile Realtime", using alternate preset: "Cheese Realtime". If you see this, make a bug report!

and tells me in the, otherwise black, main window that the videobalance GStreamer element is missing.
No video stream is shown.

gstreamer-properties video capture does work.
