Bug Description
I've just noticed that the initial splash screen in Checkbox is all in English, despite translations for my locale being shipped in the language packs.
Perhaps the translation domain is not set at that point in the code?

This appears to be a piece of bug #951054 which we're treating as the master bug for this. You verified in that one that you're using the new QT default UI, so I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of that one for the checkbox tasks.
