Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Ubuntu 9.10 beta upgraded to final with Guest Additions installed in VBox 3.0.8 on Ubuntu 8.04.3.

9.10 display was perfect with Guest Additions until I ran System Testing. When Checkbox cycled through the display test, it failed during the resolution-switching portion and was unable to go back to the custom resolution set by the Guest Additions (12xx by 6xx).

Rebooting the system failed to fix this, as did reinstalling Guest Additions. I can only suppose that there is something wrong with Xorg.conf now.

Hardware: Dell Latitude D800 notebook 1.4 Ghz.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
CheckboxCommand: resolution_test
CheckboxDescription:
This display is using the following resolution:

Hmm, if checkbox is breaking people's X, it really should be disabled in the release.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → checkbox (Ubuntu)

I am able to regain the VBox custom resolution by running GParted from the Live-CD and repair the affected partition, but running Checkbox again will again kill the custom resolution.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 9.10 reached EOL on April 30th, 2011.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version.

I will close this bug now. If you are able to reproduce it with a current supported version of Ubuntu, please, create a new one typing "ubuntu-bug checkbox" on a terminal.

Thanks!
