Bug Description
****SYNC INFO****
I have tested building and running ceph 0.34-1 on an up to date Oneiric amd64 machine. Upstream has pointed out that the version in the archive now does not work well with the 3.0 kernel, while this new version does.

The current version of Ceph (http://
The included version is currently 0.27, where the project has already reached 0.34.
The kernel client from Ceph is included in the kernel, so that is working out well.
For the upcoming LTS we want to include a more recent version of Ceph which is tested that it works with the code shipped with the new LTS so that users can have the best "Ceph experience" possible.
I'd volunteer to get this testing started as soon as the first alpha's of 12.04 start showing up (we have to wait for 11.10 first!)

Wido, Ceph is still unseeded in universe, so I'm not averse to submitting a feature freeze exception and getting 0.34 included with 11.10. Better that a more current version is available in 11.10 than have it magically arrive in 12.04 on release day. Ideally we would be syncing it from Debian, but I will be happy to sponsor work to update to 0.34 in Ubuntu first if you have time to put together an updated package and add a feature freeze exception to this bug:
