Bug Description

[Impact]
This release fixes several bugs. We would like to make sure all of our users have access to these improvements.

The update contains the following package updates:

   * ceph 19.2.0

[Test Case]
The following SRU process was followed:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OpenStackUpdates

In order to avoid regression of existing users, the OpenStack team will run their continuous integration test against the packages that are in -proposed. A successful run of all available tests will be required before the proposed packages can be let into -updates.

The OpenStack team will be in charge of attaching the output summary of the executed tests. The OpenStack team members will not mark ‘verification-done’ until this has happened.

[Regression Potential]
In order to mitigate the regression potential, the results of the aforementioned tests will be attached to this bug.

I've uploaded ceph 19.2.0-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 for the SRU team to review - this also includes the fix for bug 2080208 and supersedes the RC upload made under bug 2065515.

The usual regression testing of this release will be completed as detailed in the bug report; the specific fix for bug 2080208 would be covered by this but we will also update that bug with specific test results.

James, thanks for the upload!

I have reviewed it, and for doc purposes, can confirm it matches the upstream delta [1,2]
(filtering out the built noise from symlinks in the source; I've seen those previously).

For correctness, could you please re-upload with the -proposed RC2 version in .changes?
(ie, passing `dpkg-genchanges -v` in build) as this upload is built on top of that one.

While I agree this is cumbersome with regards to verification (say, mark the RC2 bug as
verified with a comment explaining the testing actually happens in the Release bug), it
seems like the right thing to do considering the changes in RC2 are not being discarded,
but just improved on; and AFAIK is the usual process when incrementally fixing -proposed.

If there are any other downsides to this that I'm unaware of, please let me know; sorry.
Please ping me once this is uploaded, I'll be happy to resume and accept it.

Thanks again,
Mauricio

Mauricio Faria de Oliveira (mfo) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Luciano, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ceph into noble-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph/19.2.0-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-noble to verification-done-noble. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-noble. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Regression testing results for noble proposed; there are 6 failures in the smoke test suite that are unrelated to the introduction of the ceph update into noble (I manually verified that the whole boot from volume test suite actually did boot instances - they are not accessible over the network due to a problem with my testing environment which I'm working to resolve).

Having resolved the networking issue in the test lab the noble-proposed test now reports exactly as the jammy-caracal test:

======
Totals
======
Ran: 94 tests in 1048.2197 sec.
 - Passed: 86
 - Skipped: 6
 - Expected Fail: 0
 - Unexpected Success: 0
 - Failed: 2
Sum of execute time for each test: 552.3830 sec.

I re-ran the test that passed under jammy-caracal (1 of the 2 failures above):

{0} tempest.api.compute.servers.test_attach_interfaces.AttachInterfacesUnderV243Test.test_add_remove_fixed_ip [32.792856s] ... ok

======
Totals
======
Ran: 1 tests in 32.7929 sec.
 - Passed: 1
 - Skipped: 0
 - Expected Fail: 0
 - Unexpected Success: 0
 - Failed: 0
Sum of execute time for each test: 32.7929 sec.

The remaining failing test is common to both targets and is unrelated to ceph:

octavia_tempest_plugin.tests.scenario.v2.test_traffic_ops.TrafficOperationsScenarioTest

work ongoing to figure out why that fails.

Note that this update introduces a new runtime dependency which is not in main:

  libboost-url1.83.0

This is a binary only promotion so no MIR is required however it will need an archive-admin to promote so we can release this update.

1.83.0-2.1ubuntu3 is in noble-updates/main, but 1.83.0-2.1ubuntu3.1 was accepted into noble-proposed (also main, fwiw), but failed to build in several architectures with no build log. I retried the failures.
