Celestia graphical glitches in all rendering modes

Binary package hint: celestia

The current version of Celestia displays graphical glitches (see attached image) in all rendering modes. They are of various types (the attached is with Multitexture mode), but none of them look quite right. I think the problem is with either the Intel drivers (I have an Intel GMA 4500MHD chip) or MESA, or some combination of the two... This problem is new with Kubuntu Karmic; Multitexture mode worked properly on Kubuntu Jaunty.

Official support for Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" has ended. If this is still occurring on Ubuntu 14.10 "Utopic Unicorn" please run ubuntu-bug to file a new bug report so that we can get a fresh set of log files and system information.
