Celestia or not Celestia

Bug Description

16.04 LTS upgrade just removed the celestia package from my 3 PCs (2 under Ubuntu GNOME and 1 under Ubuntu MATE).

Only the celestia-common-nonfree data package is still available in the Ubuntu repositories but there doesn't seem to be an application to exploit those data, neither Celestia nor a replacement application.

Alas.

Same problem here. Yet they're apparently referenced and downloadable here:

and appear to work.

Some kind of bug/glitch in the repos?

I've created Celestia 1.6.2 for Debian/Ubuntu and created automated deb packages building recipe for all supported Ubuntu releases (including 20.04 LTS - Focal Fosa), see

You can install latest Celestia 1.6.2 packages with these commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:baltix/ppa && sudo apt install celestia
