Hardware: Medion AKOYA E1230 ....... never had so much installation problems.....
I tested the System in orginal status -- 1GB RAM + 320 GB HDD
complete function from HDMI-port and VGA-port, screen is ok.
the same installation with 4GB Ram and 120GB SSD... result: no GUI
Kernel: 3.2 and 12.04
system and kernel acceps the 4GB RAM and the SSD.

It's trying to build against the 3.5.x kernel you have installed (and it only supports 3.2 kernel).
