Bug Description
Binary package hint: cdrom-detect
I bought a Asus Eee 1215N. When I try to install Ubuntu 11.04 using its usb 3.0 port and a cd-rom drive I get "no common cd-rom drive was detected" on the third step of the installation using the alternate cd. (The bios finds the cd-rom and runs the install.)
When I discovered that this was the usb 3.0 port I tried, I tried one of the usb 2.0 ports instead and everything works.
Also, before I discovered that it was the usb 3.0 I was trying all the time, I tried to use the 11.04 Live CD. This halts also with a similar message when accessing the cd-rom drive.

When Ubuntu is up and running, I can use USB 3.0 to access the same cd-rom without any problem.
