The man page is from cdrecord - the original program.

The people who did create the fork "wodim" did rip off the
DVD support code for unknown reasons.

If you like to use a maintained program that supports all kind of
media, please use the original software:

http://cdrecord.berlios.de

make sure to install it suid root to allow it to send all
needed SCSI commands.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Confirmed to still be present in Jaunty (wodim 9:1.1.9-1ubuntu1).

$ wodim driver=mmc_dvdplus
Illegal driver type 'mmc_dvdplus'.

The bug is trivial to reproduce; there was no need to mark it incomplete.

The bug is a result from not using the original cdrtools software.

The original software supports to write all media types but in the fork distributed on Ubuntu, the DVD support code was ripped off.

The best solution is to upgrade to the original software retrieved from ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

Schily, a lot more people would be quite enthusiastic to use your code - if only you weren't such a difficult character to deal with.

The sorry state of cdrkit is - unfortunate.
