catfish crashed with AttributeError in perform_query(): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'set_mode'

Bug Description

Except that Catfish did not crash! This is a persistent bug in 18.04 that an application launches, and while I am using the application or even after I close it, an error message will popup saying the application crashed.
