Bug Description
I insert an ubuntu livecd in my machine, and hard drives are not visible in the desktop nor in resources-
my partitions are as follows:
Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 3004 24121597 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2 * 3004 6921 31463272 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 6921 8749 14683410 83 Linux
/dev/sda4 8749 9729 7879851+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5 8749 8983 1887606 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda6 8984 9729 5992213+ 83 Linux
I am seeing this -- this is apparently due to an earlier oops which causes the system not to be able to load any modules -- you can't even look at /proc/modules. There are other boot problems with the CD as well.
