Bug Description
I tried to start Ubuntu 6.06 (both x386i and AMD 64bit) from LiveCD (both x386i and for AMD 64bit), but the system freezes after start graphical interface. The last, what i see, is the icon-box with name "Ubuntu" in the upper right corner and, sometimes, the first icon (for Window Manager). Than the system feezes completely and must be restart either with !!2!! hard-resets (by the first hard-reset the monitor doesn´t get a signal) or with a shutdown and new start. I tried to Start Ubuntu in "Safe graphical mode", with various params (acpi=off, noacpi, pci=noacpi, xforcevesa, vga=normal, irqpoll), but the same situation. I removed one of my RAM-sticks - the system freezes. After this I changed the sticks among themselves, nothing. Endless searches in various groups and forums let me think the problem is my ATI graphic card. But, as far as I can remember, with my old NVIDIA graphic card I have had the same problem. Someone else this problem, or better, a solution?
My system sheet:
- Shuttle AN51R Board (newest BIOS) with onboard LAN an SOUND
- AMD 64bit 3400 CPU
- 2048MB RAM (GSkill)
- ATI X850XT AGP 8x graphic card (PowerColor)
- 1 x SATA HDD
- 1 x IDE HDD
- LG Burner and Toshiba DVD Drive
- Creative Sound Blaster Live!
Every idea is welcome!

There is a RAM tester on the CD - could you run it?
