Hi, I don't know whether this bug was signaled for me, because I told about it on some diffusion list and someone told me the bug had already been opened. Some precisions about my case:

aldian@karmic-fr:~$ apt-cache policy usb-creator-gtk
usb-creator-gtk:
  Installé : 0.2.12
  Candidat : 0.2.12
 Table de version :
 *** 0.2.12 0
        500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
aldian@karmic:~$ uname -a
Linux jauntyCE 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux

In my case, the freeze is systematic when I click on the format button (three trys so far and in one case the crash was total). If only one usb device is connected, its partition table is erased, but non new partition is created. If several usb devices are connected, one of them is erased.

So first time I used it I had to use testdisk to recover my partition table. The others times, I only had one usb device connected, but I still had to use gparted to complete the task.

I think that from now on I will use gparted whenever I need to format an usb-device, and stop using the format button of the creator.

Regards

Hi :). About your questions:

1. No the bug doesn't affect Ubuntu 10.04 (up to date). But it still affects
an up to date Ubuntu 9.10.

2. This is very simple : just insert an usb drive in the computer (and
remove every other), then launch usb-creator-gtk, select either the disk or
the only partition and click on "format". Then an error message about dbus
appears and the usb drive is in a state where all the partitions are gone,
but no new partition has been created. Just take a look at the attached
screenshots.

OK, if sounds like this is a duplicate of bug 458334. Thanks for the screenshots!
